About Zsolt Szederkényi
Art is where knowledge and emotion collide. When I document, I capture what’s unfolding, letting the moment speak for itself. But when I’m involved, I shape the narrative, like I’m directing a movie scene.
Back then, when I started with photography, my goal was to master framing and composition, so I could be a cinematographer at some point. It feels like a cycle now, because over time, my passion for photography deepened, and now my photos look like movie scenes.
-------------
I’ve been immersed in movement since 1992. Dance was my first language, and in 1999, I began teaching and organizing events. In 2007, I founded Urban Dance Hungary, a community that shaped the urban dance culture in Budapest. But my journey has always been about community, connecting with others, creating spaces for artists to grow, and expressing ourselves.
I didn’t just perform, I participated in the culture, connected with artists, and traveled to learn from other cultures. In 2020, I moved to the Netherlands and now live in Rotterdam with a studio at C3 Studios. This space allows me to explore conceptual photography, portraiture, and continue documenting creative work. Photography has become my primary medium for expression, collaboration, and boundary-pushing.
My practice spans across portrait photography, conceptual photography, videography, and documentary work. While I focus on photography, I also continue to document culture, performances, and artists in action. Whether in the studio or at live events, my work is about capturing raw energy, emotion, and the stories that bring us together.
